Dynatorch offers a new dimension in Intelligent Servo GearMotors
Conventional servo drive systems utilize extensive external electronics to power and direct servo motor operation. The external electronics act as an intermediary translator between the user PC and the drive motors. These electronics add another layer of complexity to your CNC motion table and another area of potential problems. Dynatorch has simplified CNC motion control through the use of intelligent motors. All the intelligence needed to translate motion instructions from the PC is integrated within the drive motors itself. The need for unreliable external amplifiers, decoders, heavy and extensive cabling are simply not needed. External electronics that do not exist can not break down which improves reliability and problem diagnosis. We offer you a drive system that:
Table Motion Hardware The Dynatorch CNC plasma/flame table motion system utilizes new technology intelligent servo motors to move the table gantry. Dynatorch intelligent motors receive instructions directly from a conventional PC serial port. No special electronics are needed in the PC. These serially formatted instructions are addressed to specific motors. Although all motors in the system see all instructions outputted by the PC each motor only acts on those instruction intended for it. Upon receipt of a properly addressed instruction the built in intelligence within the motor translates that instruction to proper shaft rotation and therefore movement. A built-in encoder compares desired shaft rotation with actual shaft rotation to assure they match exactly. If there is a difference the software takes appropriate corrective action. In less technologically advanced closed loop servo systems problems such as exceeding travel limits will just cause the motors to stop on an emergency basis. The software will continue to output movement direction even though the motors have stopped. In the Dynatorch system the motors and software are constantly communicating and should the motor stop the software will be aware of it and aware the gantry has ceased movement and show this on the user interface. Since the Dynatorch motion system allows direct communication between the user interface (PC) and the drive motors all intermediary electronics are eliminated. With Dynatorch conventional controllers, amplifiers and heavy multiple cables are a thing of the past. Our system is so advanced the need for physical switches for travel limits is not required along with their attendant wiring. (Homing switch operation is available if required). Our motor packages are offered in two varieties, with and without gearboxes. There are two ways to achieve the desired RPM range and torque values for your application. The typical direct drive plasma cutting table requires relatively low RPM range but sufficient torque to give adequate positioning speeds. A large drive motor can be employed, but, they are heavy and expensive. The other option would be to employ a smaller motor, run it at its higher yet optimum RPM. The smaller motor’s RPM and torque would be processed through a light, inexpensive gearbox. The gearbox brings the RPM into the desired range and multiplies the output torque. We, like most manufactures , found the most cost effective and best for all around performance is the motor/gearbox combination. The motor /gearbox combination not only amplifies available torque but allows greater movement resolution and accuracy. Initial height sensing touch and retract pressure is user settable on a machine configuration screen. This allows the user to make adjustments to the system response depending on material and conditions. We offer motor packages with and without gearboxes depending on your needs. We ask that you consult with the factory on all applications not requiring a gearbox to assure proper motor sizing.
